How a setup session works
Here is exactly what happens, so there are no surprises.
Before the call
- You book a package and a time. Booking and payment are handled by our booking provider.
- You get a short checklist. It asks you to have your devices charged and nearby, to know your Apple, Google or Microsoft account sign-in, and to have your phone available for verification codes.
- You choose a video tool you already use, such as Zoom or Google Meet, or we send a link.
We do not ask for your passwords in advance, and we do not need any account details before the call.
During the call
- A quick plan. We ask what you use, what worries you, and what you want protected.
- The VPN. We choose one together, based on your needs. Our usual starting recommendation is Proton VPN, and we explain the trade-offs so you can decide. You create your own account and pay the provider directly.
- The password manager. We set it up with a strong master password that only you know, and move your most important accounts across.
- Two-factor authentication. We turn it on for your email first, because email is the key to resetting everything else.
- The test. We check your public IP address, DNS and IPv6, and try the kill switch, so you can see that it works. See our guide to checking that your VPN is working.
- Your questions. We leave time for the things you have always wanted to ask.
You share your screen or follow along on your own device. You type your own passwords. We never take remote control of your computer.
After the call
- A one-page written summary of what was set up and the few habits that matter most.
- 14 days of email support for questions about what we set up.
- An optional reminder to check your settings again in a few months.
What if something goes wrong?
If we cannot finish the setup for a reason on our side, we will make it right or refund you under our service terms.
