Editorial policy

This page explains how Norvon decides what to publish and recommend, and how it keeps affiliate income from influencing that. The same standards apply to what we recommend in setup sessions.

Accuracy and sources

• Factual claims (how a technology works, what a law says, what a company does) are checked against primary sources where possible: official documentation, published privacy policies, independent audits, and government or standards bodies.
• We say when something depends on a setting, a plan or a country.
• We avoid absolute language. A VPN can hide your traffic from your local network and your internet provider. It cannot make you anonymous.

Testing and reviews

• A product review is written only after the author has used the product. Reviews describe what was tested, on which devices, and when.
• Every review includes a section on who the product is not for, and the downsides we found.
• Products are re-checked and updated when they change materially. The "last reviewed" date at the top of each page shows when the page was last checked.

Affiliate links and independence

• We do not currently use affiliate links. If we add some, every affected page will carry a disclosure. See the affiliate disclosure.
• Commission rates, where they exist, do not decide what we recommend. A product that pays less, or nothing, can and will be recommended over a higher-paying one if it is a better fit for the reader or client.
• We do not accept payment for reviews and we do not let companies edit our content.

What we do not publish

• Coupon codes, deal lists or cashback offers.
• Advice for breaking the law, evading a service's rules, or hiding illegal activity.
• Fear-based claims or unsupported statistics.

Corrections and updates

If you find an error, contact us through the contact page. We correct factual errors promptly. When a correction is significant, we add a short note to the page describing what changed.
